I drove on through the rest of Indiana after a wonderful night at the Motel 6 in Ft Wayne. I had been traveling on US Rt 33 since I picked it up in Virginia near Charlottesville. If you haven't tried following a route that way you should, just for the experience--it's nothing like the blur of passing scenery on an Interstate. I lost 33 once when passing through Columbus and ended up on some alternate routes until I made my way back to it. 33 ended at US Rt 20 near Elkhart, IN, and I actually experienced a feeling of loss. Not for long, mind you, because it was time to move into Michigan.
The contrast was quite dramatic when crossing the border. The road went from the decaying industrial remnants of Goshen and Elkhart to farmlands and fields in Michigan.
